From set design to material usage, we prioritize reusability, donation, and waste reduction, and plan climate-conscious strategies.

  • Zero Plastic Initiative & Carbon-Captured Materials: Choosing aluminum over plastic and cartons over plastic bottles, and encouraging crew members to bring refillable bottles.

  • Energy Efficiency & Carbon Reduction: We adopt LED lighting, low-energy equipment, and carbon-conscious production methods to reduce emissions.

  • Ethical Sourcing & RSPO Certification: We prioritize working with vendors who share our sustainability values, including responsibly sourced, RSPO-certified materials.

  • Sustainable Set Design & Responsible Packaging: We incorporate reusable and recyclable materials whenever possible, aligning with our commitment to the natural world.

  • Waste Reduction & Refill Solutions: We ensure unused materials and food are donated rather than discarded, use silverware and porcelain rather than paper or plastic utensils, and offer water bottle refill stations to our crew.

Donations

Working with various non-profits across the city, we partner with places like Material for the Arts, Rehab Centers and Programs to ensure our prop and set donations, provide access to crucial art materials, but also to those needing items for rebuilding their lives. From paint to furniture, we make sure that the items have a second life.

With our extensive network we are able to provide a full view of the opportunities in our industry, with a stress on hard work and dedication, molding the next generation of workers that carry the ethic and gumption it takes to succeed.

  • Our Executive Producer, Stephanie, is a dedicated mentor with hundreds of success stories. Whether through programs like Creative Futures or her own personal guidance, she curates, nurtures, and coaches emerging talent to build sustainable careers in production.

  • Currently, she is mentoring three individuals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that the future of the industry is equitable, inclusive, and full of opportunity.

  • Hemlock Productions also carries interns throughout the year, combing through 100’s of resumes to find the right match. At Hemlock, we are committed to paying it forward, breaking barriers, and building a more inclusive visual arts community - one mentorship at a time.
